Trees are poems that earth writes upon the sky. We fell them down and turn them into paper that we may record our emptiness. -Kahil Gibran-
~~~~~~~~~~~~
I grieve the loss of my Oak tree,
Who was a very close part of me..
The years it's branches grew,
Became a loving friend I knew...
We'd talk with silent sound,
With memories of past we found...
A delicate love between,
Such beauty I've never seen...
And humans have no heart,
To remove this beautiful part...
The tears that fall are real,
For the greatest loss I feel...
I shall not live to see,
My Oak returned to me.
~cbrite
The song which I relate to is by Peter Gabriel "I Grieve"... Only those who love the earth and it's beauty would understand this great loss to me.... I would rather have a beautiful tree who is 100+ years old than some million dollar car. Plants 'feel'....People don't anymore.
Thank you for your shade to cool me.
Thank you for your beauty to put joy in my heart.
Thank you for your home to the birds and squirrels who loved you.
Thank you for bending when I could not.
Thank you for asking nothing of me but to protect you.
Thank you for your gentleness when the world is breaking.
Thank you for loving me as I am.
" If I had known life was so short I would have planted more trees."
Iso know how you feel!
I have a tree "friend" too>
I would be so sad if it was cut down.
We've spent many days and nights and storms together.
I know this may seem strange to some but nature is really a part of us and embraces us![]()
Beautiful! Thank you for sharing.
For 13 years lived in an area of Southern California just about bereft of anything green, let alone trees: brown, brown, brown and some scruff.
We moved to the Pacific Northwest and now enjoy beautiful and gorgeous trees abounding, treating us every day to a wealth of green and beauty.
@cbrite ~ Strange I came across this post. In our backyard there is a tall evergreen. It has been there since I moved in. Just this past fall the tree starting leaning towards our house. Now it's leaning even more. I called for three opinions as to whether or not it can be staked to try to save it. All three said no. The roots that are showing are starting to crack and the ground is beginning to lift at the bottom. Unfortunately, the tree is being taken down on Monday. I'm dreading it.
I asked the man to please be mindful of any nests that may be in the tree and he agreed (really nice guy). If any, I will take them to a local wildlife refuge. It's been so cold here the lady at the wild bird store thinks we'll be safe in not having any.
I have already arranged for a Norway Spruce and three Quickfire Hydrangeas to be planted in it's place. I didn't want to take it down without something ready to go in it's place. Some may find this foolish but I'm really very sad about the loss of the tree. :-(
It DOES hurt to see a mighty giant of nature taken down.
Will you plant something in its place?
@Julie928 . Ohhhh I'm so sorry......but as other things, if they are sick, then they go to heaven and sprinkle among the stars....It hurts the heart and missed so much.
Mine was fine...it had a few branches leaning over to my neighbor who has not said a word to me in 8 years...until my Oak's couple branches blocked their solar a bit..... so they called some awful guys.. They've been removed from the BBB for awful business practice... It's done...I go out and break down seeing the hacked off branches...they removed about 70%... I can't see out nor up front or I would have stopped them. Sharp steel spikes were used to climb way up...and they are never to be used on a live tree.... I've patched them to heal...the low part as the top of my Oak is gone. I just have to adjust.... Years ago, when we got this property, there was a small Apple Tree.....I loved that one too.....small, but I so loved it.... the men backed over it with their work truck......killed it.....took me days of tears to recover on my little Apple Tree........ I did......but never to forget.
I wish you the best with your new tree to grow.... ![]()
