There is a magnolia tree outside my bedroom window of the apts I live in. It's all budded out and a few are beginning to bloom. You can see the color in the buds. It's a pink one--I used to call it a tulip tree. I moved here on March 4th,2021 and it was a glorious riot of pink---then in June of that year we had that awful heat dome where our temps were in the upper 90's, then the low 100's and finally was 108*, all in one week---I live in western WA state. That tree got scorched and since then it has not been as pretty ---maybe this year it will be more normal.

@wagirl  Wow! 108 in Washington State in June! Hope all is well with your magnolia. Sounds like it's trying its best.

@wagirl   I wish my magnolia was budding. I lost a chunk off the top of it with a snowstorm we had in Jan. It looks kinda silly now. I love magnolia trees!

@wagirl      I love ❤️ magnolia trees!  Their flower smells so delicious.  There are lots that grow around me, but none at my house 😞. Every time I'm at someone's house who has one I ask to pick a couple to take home.

I sure hope yours does well this year.😊

I didn't even know there were pink Magnolia trees. I've seen beautiful white ones. I hope yours is going to be in full wonderful bloom this year!

I just reread and noticed she said pink too.  I've never seen that variety either, but I'll bet they're just lovely.

Re: Spring is on the way----

The pink “Jane” magnolia tree that was always such a beautiful sight in our backyard for years sadly fell during a terrible storm last summer. We were so sad to lose that tree! We tried to replace it but no nursery’s near us had them. We settled on 2 “Star” magnolias that were planted in the fall. We are eagerly awaiting the big white flowers promised to be an early spring bloomer.

Mine won't be blooming until later in March.  It's white with red center.  They are beautiful.

Every year I ask it "Why are you blooming when it's still cold out."

I will try to do a picture google search and then post it here--wish me luck on that endeavor!!!Woman Wink also didn't know they had a scent---

And yes it was 108* here near Seattle---one year we got to 105* . Was absolutely miserable. And no central air in my apartment --but just happen to act early and got a portable a/c for my bedroom--that saved me--have an elderly cat--she was 12 then--that I had to move into my cool room---geez she hated being confined to one area----Cat Mad
