Spring is coming and I'm so sad

This year I'm dealing with some medical problems that are going to keep me off my feet and I'm so sad. I love to do all the things you do to get ready for the new season--looking at catalogues (I usually make jokes about "plant porn" Woman Frustrated), decide what to plant and when and where, getting all dirty all sweaty and then watch the results of my labor show up.

I like to try new things, too, and have had a few duds but it's fun to try anyway. I'm hoping to be back in the game by next year.

Re: Spring is coming and I'm so sad

@PuppyLoverBob666   I am so sorry, I hope you have a full recovery and can get back to gardening soon.

Gardening was my passion.  People used to drive by and take pictures of my house because of the hundreds of flowers I had planted.  And, I had a vegetable garden in the back.

Now I have bone on bone knees and can't plant much.  i have a lot of planters filled with flowers and veggies now.

Don't be too sad that spring is coming.  The warm weather will be here soon greeting you with a sunny smile.  You can always place a few pretty planters on the porch and enjoy.

Hi @PuppyLoverBob666  , I think most people can relate where, we have had issues that stopped us from doing what we want some time in life- I've had injuries that stopped me cold too. And it's a bum deal .
All I can offer is to Try to distract yourself with another interest, because there's no sense dwelling on it if you can't change it! Hope you can be back at it soon-

@PuppyLoverBob666  I hope all goes smoothly with your wellness journey.  Would it be possible to do some small container plantings or maybe some indoor plants?  If not, perhaps you can do some sketching and designing of what and where you will plant next year.  Maybe you could get some posterboard, draw out your yard, and then map out a plan for next year.  🙂

@PuppyLoverBob666

I don't know what your medical issues are, but I sincerely hope that whatever you are facing you will be healed quickly.  I love Spring and it's my favorite time of the year.  So, I can certainly understand your sadness, because you enjoy planting, etc.  I always tend to get a little sad myself during the summer because I have a lot of issues myself and I see people doing a lot of activities - biking, jogging and many other very physical things which I cannot do.  I am very glad though when I see the last of the snow and cold temps and I can at least sit on the patio and get fresh air and observe the fresh growth of trees and grass and watch the birds.  I hope that you can do this and perhaps this will lift your spirits until you can again do your planting!  Blessings!

Re: Spring is coming and I'm so sad

I can relate, last year I was recovering from a major surgery and couldn't do much gardening. But, what I did instead was do a few small container gardens on the porch. It still gave me the sense of gardening without the hard work. I grew peppers, herbs, attempted a mini-pumpkin (did not work) and carrots. And I could still walk around the yard and look at the flowers. This year I'll be back in the regular garden, but still plan on keeping up the porch garden as well. Praying for a quick recovery for you.

@PuppyLoverBob666   Oh, no!!  Hope you can heal well.  Maybe you are able to have someone come in just for this year, so you can at least look at everything.  It wouldn't be the same as doing it yourself, tho.  Thinking of you!
