Some colour in the garden today

[ Edited ]

Today was gorgeous.  90 degrees, way above our normal temps for this time of year.  I started early this morning and mulched our largest bank and did battle with winter damage to two huge hydrangeas.

I swam three times today.  Enjoyed the great weather and being in the garden again.  DH is off fishing for a few days after his hard work so Lily was my swimming buddy.

New colour is emerging everyday.  It is going to be a lovely year for lilacs which are just about to open up.

No idea where the numbers came from.  Too lazy to edit them out.  Enjoy!  LM

Beautiful photos.  I am in the PNW - my purple lilacs and white iris are done.  Peonies are at the end.  I have a big bouquet of pink peonies in a blue and white vase in my living room. It is cloudy and 55 here.

Our planting season here in Indiana is way ahead of yours.  Irises, peonies, tulips - all gone now - my hibiscus is actually coming up and it's pretty early.  Butterfly bush has yet to bloom also.  Your garden looks amazing!  Just beautiful!

@Lilysmom

Beautiful as always.  I am surprised to read the hot weather hit you too. Based on your blooms, it seems you are about a month behind our growing season.

I have one peony bush that has continued to bloom for about a month.  There are a few blooms left among the irises. We have an abundance of roses now.  The Black-eyed Susans are starting to bloom.  Our butterfly bushes are covered in buds.

Your new walkway is fabulous.  I cannot believe your husband did the job himself.  My husband tried cementing a few loose bricks and made an absolute mess.

I hit the pool and stuck on toes in the ocean yesterday, but I do not know about a frigid lake.  My canine pal hates water.

@hoosieroriginal, we are on the borderline of the range for butterfly bushes.  I tried twice.  Had beautiful blooms but they don't survive the winters here.  Some areas of the Province can grow them in warm micro climates.  Not here which is sad because they are so beautiful.  LM

Re: Some colour in the garden today

@lulu2, it has cooled off this morning so it will be a good day for garden work.

DH didn't do the concrete himself, he dug out for it.  If he did, I would have concrete all over the place😊!!!

We we are behind a lot of you.  Our trees have only been in full leaf for about a week.  LM

@Lilysmom

You certainly have lovely gardens!  Do you and your DH do all that work yourselves?  Thank you for sharing your pictures.
