So the first rose, rather small

Is it normal for the first rose, hybrid tea to be on smallish side? Not many rows of petals either..I'd say a sort of skimpy blossom. This rose came out of a new stem that just started growing after a hard prune. I have another thread on that...so I'm not going to repeat the life story lol. But, I just got this...reported it and that's why it's a first rose. You think I can expect larger, more fragrant blooms in future? It's a Grandiflora

@Dazlin  Where do you Live?  Most places aren't getting enough sun for good rose blooms this time of year.  I noticed my "Peace" rose has one huge bloom on it and that'll be the last.  Naturally a very small plant is not going to produce huge blossoms...how would it support them?  Not all roses are fragrant, it depends on the variety.

You talk about "repotting", are you growing it in a pot?

Yes Dazlin, this is very normal due to the time of year.  Grandaflora's as with all roses bloom in spring through summer, but do have a resurgence in a warm fall.  Be patient and this rose bush reward you wtiht years of beauty and perfume.  Top it off with a layer of mulch before the first frost and let it be.  In Spring feed it and water as needed and you will have big beautiful blooms.  Good Luck !

Grandifloras refer to their height not their bloom size. Grandifloras are a cross between floribundas and hybrid teas so they have the characteristics of both-- multiple flowers on long stems.

Re: So the first rose, rather small

Thank you...great info!!   makes sense being small at this point.  Your right, about how would it support a large bloom, just starting out.

It is getting more buds,  one per long stem.   Yes, I have my roses in very LARGE pots...doing beautifully!.

Appreciate the tips here..Jazzmom, I have a liitle mulch around it now, but I will add more before cooler temps set in here in Florida.
