I ordered a dandy, tiny little solar water pump (Biling Solar Water pump $15) from Amazon so you might check there. I have birdbaths that are too far from the house for extension cords and these small solar power ones works great.

What I found on line is a container that the pump fits in and then you put that inside your existing vessel.  I like it because it is not solar but battery operated and you recharge with a usb....supposedly the charge lasts quite a while.  The website tells how long it stays charged, I just don't remember.

It is more expensive but probably what I am looking for.

As others have mentioned...Solar Bird Bath Fountain Pumps, may be a good solution. Good luck!

We have one of those inxpensive solar water fountains for our pond, it floats and the fountain shower sprays upward.  When you first put the fountain in the water, you have to submerge it completely to make the air go out.  Ours has worked all summer.  But it's a pond, not a bird bath.  Oh, and if the bird bath is in the shade, it won't work very well.
