Sheila’s Brush

[ Edited ]

Yes, that's what we had yesterday...while the saying comes from Newfoundland, all the Maritime Provinces use it.

Sheila's Brush is an idiom used in Newfoundland and it refers to the last big storm of the winter season, a storm that occurs around St. Patrick's Day. The term comes from an Irish legend which says that Sheila was the saint's wife (or sister or mother) and that the snow is a result of her sweeping away the old season.

The after... the bulbs are used to it, they survive no problem.

We are expecting warm temps all week so it won't last long.  The lake is entirely open now.  S

Thanks for sharing. My parents were from Newfoundland. I learned something new today about their wit and humor to share with my clan.

Thank you -- I've never heard of Sheila's Brush.  Very interesting.  I'll remember that.

I also love your blue glass heron

How serene and beautiful, while preparing to reemerge, lush for spring. I do hope Sheila IS sweeping away winter.

I always look forward to viewing your photos. It's such a gorgeous property. Spring and summer there seems downright magical.
