We've been enjoying our fresh Spring Peas this month.  My parents and I love them after they've been strung and cooked in their shells, kinda like a green bean.  They're also great just raw as a snack or used on a veggie tray in dip.  Ruby likes them shelled to go along with her supper lol.

They begin as a flower that actually turns into the pea later on.  In the last pic, you can actually see the flower slipping off the pea.  In case you ever decide to grow any, here's what to expect.😃

Below on the left, you can see 2 small peas forming.

You can see the white flower slipping off the bottom of this pea below.  So sorry it's a bit blurry from rain.

You must have quite a large garden. Lots of work but very worth it!

My grandfather used to plant the back half of our large yard with all the produce things we would share with him and my grandmother.  My bedroom looked out the back and I knew when the sweet peas were finally ready to be picked.

I waited until the twins were watching TV and then I'd go out and have them all to myself for a while....until they came looking for me !

Since we didn't have AC then, we slept with the windows open.  No problem until he had a load of manure delivered and dumped out back...right near my windows.  He only did it once as he didn't want the feedback from his favorite granddaughter !

@cheriere I enjoyed the photos of the Spring Peas. I do not know why, but we never had any in our gardens. They look like edamame. I can tell they would be something I would enjoy. Your photography is so lifelike and detailed. Do you freeze them or can them?
