We took cuttings today from a large ****** Willow tree with the idea of starting a tree on a second property, but the buds are already opening.
Should I try to root it and keep it in a pot inside until normal Spring, or root it and try to get it in the ground outside before we actually have a hard frost?
I'm in the NYC Tri-state area, where it was in the high '60's on Christmas Day.
Thanks for your help!
It took me awhile to understand what you were asking!
Here in NJ our Kitty Willow bush is covered in fuzzy buds, popping open. Tonight, they will more than likely freeze to death.
As others have said, these kitty willows are easy to root.

My cuttings are thriving - could I put them out in their bucket in our NYC tristate area now, and bring them in at night, or should I wait until any danger of frost is over??
Thinking "March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb".
