I see people doing that every summer around here ,mostly in those homedepot orange colored pails, it looks tacky,so a nice big pot would look better.

5 gallon buckets is how I have grown my veggies for the past two years, due to a disability that won't allow me to garden anymore. I drill at least 8 to 10 drainage holes in the bottom of the bucket. I like the fact that I can move the buckets, ( plants) if the weather will be bad for a day or two, or if the plants get too hot in a heatwave, I can move them to the shade. You can also buy Grow bags on amazon as small as 1 gallon and as big as 10 gallon. Just fill with soil and plants, they drain well with no drilling and allow air to get to the roots. I use the 7 gallon ones for tomatoes, green beans, bell peppers and jalapeño plants. Also, when I use a 5 gallon bucket for tomatoes, I drive a tomato stake down inside the edge of the bucket and then put the plant in, that way the root is not damaged later on.
