I saw one pecking at the stump in our yard just last week too! I watched it from the window and boy was the wood flying!! Their beaks must be shrp! Hubby has been trying to get rid of the stump with an ax, and the woodpecker is doing a much better job....LOL

Here is a picture......Please ignore the junk in the background...we piled stuff back there until we got the load of pea gravel for the landscaping....

Well, all you lucky duckys! They are in my range, but I have never drawn one to my suet feeder! There are enough trees & woods around, so they must be here. I will keep a sharp ear out for them.

Probably eating insects by now. In winter months I get the flickers to my peanut feeder.
