Petunias coming up from last year

I have two petunia plants coming back up in my front wash tub planter that survived our mild winter here in Indiana!  I've had this happen before, but since they are annuals, it always surprises me.

That is a nice surprise.  I have only had petunias come back a few times.

 

My snapdragons come back every year.

Last Fall I put some gourds mixed with some coloful squashin my front tub planter.  I liked the color of the squash for the fall mixed in with some sprigs of berries.  I now have a huge, healthy  squash plant blossoming in the planter. Think I will transplant when I add the spring/summer annuals in the tubs.  Too cold, alas, to plant them yet.  Although the squash looks healthy.
