Yes, you will get potatoes, just not as much as if you used seed potatoes. If you purchased the potatoes at a grocery store they have been treated with a sprout retardant. Plant them 2-3" under the soil. When the sprouts are 6-8" tall start hilling the plants with soil. Let them grow another 6-8" and hill again. Repeat one more time. Water when needed. When the plants die off and dry out, start pulling away the soil to find your potatoes.
