Until literally YESTERDAY morning, I had a great view - two red chestnut trees that were over 60 years old. My main living space is on my second floor and these two trees sheltered and shaded my wrought iron balcony (think New Orleans town house in Buffalo NY!) There are 3 townhouses in a row, and all had chestnuts, forming a canopy overhead for people walking down the street and keeping my balcony "protected" from the street traffic.

The city has been very nice - they are sending an arborist out today. Nothing can be planted until the spring, and I hesitate to get two more chestnuts - they will take way too long to get to 25 feet!
I'm so upset that I'm numb...
