Thanks for your help.  I googled it and it does appear to be a Japanese Windflower or Anemone.

its pretty! just call it the pretty flower!! you know japan and china and africa have shared some of their beautiful flowers with the usa. i thank them every time the peonies, chinese fringe tree and the marigolds bloom out in the spring. i just love the japanese cherry trees....
