NEED THE NAME OF A COTTAGE FARMS FLOWER

If anyone can help, I would appreciate it. I purchased a Cottage Farms fl ower which I think is a hibiscus but for colder climates. If anyone saw Lisa Robertson's facebook page she had quite a few of them planted on her property. They are very tall with small purple flowers which form a ball. My question is, do I cut them down after the season???? Thank you!
