Mysterious Front Porch Shoe Heist

I keep four pairs of shoes on my front porch for walking, gardening, mail checking, etc.  The other morning 7 of the 8 shoes were out in the front yard.  They had been carried a good 20-30 feet.  The porch is sizable, and protected from the elements for the most part.  Do you think, maybe, a fox or a raccoon might be the culprit?

Maybe a dog?  They like to chew on things.  Odd that that many were dragged.  What condition were they in?

The Fox loved my daughter’s shoes and would snatch them off the porch of our cabin in the Rocky Mountains.

I would worry about spiders and other bugs in my shoes, if I kept them outside.

@Equuleus, they were in their "original" condition.  No damage.

Edited to add:  thankfully, the heavy rains that evening had subsided or they could have been a mess.

@saltysails, one time I put a slide on and there was a toad in there!  I do generally shake them out before wearing (but not always!).

Well from what others said, maybe a fox.  Do you have them in your area?

Silly animals, they are playing tricks on you!

Yes, there are foxes in the area.  I understand they are quite playful, especially with their young.

@Sweetbay magnolia

Once I put on my yard Crocs and there was a Lion Lizard taking a nap in one!

My guess would be a dog playing doggy games with you.

What was wrong with the one s/he left behind?  : O >
