@mousiegirl I did see your mystery rose thread and do not know what it is either. I'm glad you were happy with your Chamblees purchases. The 'Earth Angel' is set to ship on the 9th to me from them.

@mousiegirl Right now all my roses have leafed out and no buds yet. They have been fed an initial feeding of Rose Tone and a feeding of Epsom salts. We've had a lot of rain these past few days.

@JustJazzmom  You sure have to wait a long time to see blooms.  Mine are blooming away, and a few slowpokes just about to.

Some of Chamblee's arrived with blooming flowers and buds. Smiley Happy

@JustJazzmom  Here are pictures of the pink rose that took over an Iceberg rose as it is blooming now.  I tried to show the length of the canes by propping them on top of a large nursery can, but it really doesn't show the true length, which is very long.  I wonder if it will be a climber or a rambler, but whatever, it will be pruned to be a mound, large though it may be.

@JustJazzmom  Yesterday while weeding, I discovered that there were two short green canes with leaves on the red rose bush that we discussed last year and that I pronounced dead just last week, so DH dug it up and it is now in a large pot to see if I can get it going, I hope so. Smiley Happy

I also discovered another mystery rose at the top of the property surrounded by Redwood trees, pictures of which I will post tomorrow.

Some Rosarians say if it's not showing signs of life by July, then consider your rose to be dead.

@JustJazzmom  That sounds logical. The red rose is showing signs of life, just hope it continues. Smiley Happy

@JustJazzmom  Here are pictures of aother mystery rose that was planted at least twenty-five years ago at the top of and in a hill.  Because DH didn't listen to me about planting roses in a wire basket as a friend suggested, the gophers ate them all, except for a few, and this rose is one of them.  This rose has survived all these years without any watering from me, only the rain we get, and many droughts, so it is my hero. Smiley Happy

At that time, I was only buying hybrid teas as I didn't know about the heirlooms, but discovered those soon, so this must be a tea, but, this rose had six enormous roses to one thick enormous stem, have never seen anything like it before, the size of the blooms and stem, and it has a marvelous fragrance, not to mention the color which I love.

Every year when I go to the top of the property to side tip the redwoods so they will fill in, I see this rose, and cut which is usally one rose, normal size, and then forget about it.  On Sunday, while weeding,  I saw the huge blooms all the way up through the trees, so up we went to discover what I described.  I told DH to get my camera and pruner, lol, so off he went, and the rest is history.

DSCF0490.JPGYet another mystery rose.  It is a mini climber planted at least twenty-five years ago, and surviving on no water excpet rain, and several droughts, what a trooper!
