I am amazed that 5 days later from my initial Gardenia Tree post that my tree has evolved into this!   @mousiegirl@CJC and @Kirsche, you were right about my tree.  I am now getting a handle on these high maintenance trees.  There are a lot of new buds ready to bloom.  It really needs to be pruned but I will wait to ensure it is settled in to it’s new pot.  Thank you all for your insightful thoughts!

@BornToShop

Just a tip on pruning gardenias that you may already know.  I'm glad it's in full recovery mode.

It is best to prune your gardenia shrub right after the blooms have faded in the summer. Gardenias will set their flower buds for the next year in the fall, so pruning in the summer will allow you to cut back some of the older wood without risking cutting away newly set buds

So glad your tree is doing good.  I have gardenia bushes but not a tree....maybe

next year.  Smiley Happy
