@nanapat  If your yard is dug up, it could be raccoons.  If there are dirt mounds or soil pushed up to the surface, then moles.  We have moles and gophers.  Be glad you don't have  gophers, they eat plants, either whole, or the roots so that the plants die.

I keep my BB rifle close by, and use the moles for target practice whenever their little heads pop up from their holes.    Sometimes I get lucky and get quite a few of them.

We use the loop traps for ground moles. 

 

They work great, but you have to put it over their tunnel at just the right angle, so the tunnel is within the loop...when they travel through their tunnel again, it sets off the trap...and puts the squeeze play on them...it's fast and lethal and the animal doesn't suffer only for a quick moment...similar to a mouse trap..

 

My hubby has used these kind of traps for years and swears by them...and you're not using  poison in your yard that other animals can get into and can cause a slow and painful death.....
