Check with a local nursery, but in our area the planting season is winding down. If you can find them the miniature or dwarf marigolds (my preference is yellow color) make the most beautiful flowers and plants. They are worth the effort to locate.

Sounds like they might be aging. But I would put them out and see what happens.

Marigolds are foolproof. They are regenerating. They'll form new buds and will bloom all through the summer. There's no killing Marigolds.

Marigolds are super hardy and easy to grow. They do require lots of water. It sounds like your Marigolds are parched.
They do not like essessive heat and will slow down growth and look pretty wilted. They will usually bounce back. If the leaves turn black on the edges...replace them.

I agree with the others - marigolds are pretty much indestructible. Plant them in a sunny location and they'll bounce back.

Planting season is just getting underway in my area. I'm in zone 5.
I've seen Marigolds survive and revive from desperate situations, so I wouldn't toss those @Luvsmyfam
"Potted" marigolds? Perhaps severely root bound in their pots and needing space, and a good drenching of water with a little fertiliser in it. Good luck. 🍀

I agree. It sounds like yours got a bit thirsty. Water is your friend here.
