Oh.... By the title, I thought you were planting only native plants in your garden.

@PuppyLoverBob666 People here are trying to tell you why a yard like yours causes problems for people around you, you get that don't you?  Pests, ticks, snakes, disease carrying pests.  All sorts of really bad things.

Plus if someone needs to sell their house, your yard will cost them money and maybe sales.

I hope you will rethink what you are doing and maybe mow the tall grass and keep some wildflower beds neatly maintained.

People here are not just saying these things to be unkind, they are trying to point out the problems you cause for people around you with knee-high grass.  You sound like a kind person, so I hope you take this to heart and consider the folks nearby.

Here, there would be a concern for attracting snakes and of course rodents.

You could have just spread mulch or straw.

Code enforcement, thank goodness would be knocking on the door in my town.

There are rules for the height of grass/weeds, once above that height you are notified, mow it or the city will mow it at your expense....and this is a law I agree with.

@PuppyLoverBob666  My post wasn't meant to be mean - just let you know what might happen.  I know first hand what can and probably will happen!!  We have a vacation cottage and some with cottages don't regularly mow and often don't use their cottages for a whole year or just  memorial day or the 4th of July.  They let the grass and weeds grow bringing rats and mice as well as snakes. ground bees and mosquitoes that affect the whole campground of 26 cottages!!  Plus they have to deal with it themselves when they want to use theirs so they have to hire someone to clear their grounds and exterminators with chemicals etc so they can enjoy their stay!
