For those of us in the western N.Y. area the migration route is believed to come up through the Ohio River and then connects eventually with Lake Erie by way of small streams and reservoirs. The males come in about two weeks ahead of the females to establish their territory. Then the females show up. Shortly after their arrival they seem to disappear. They are doing what they are supposed to do ...the females are building their nests, laying their eggs and incubating them until it is time for the new babies to meet the world.

Remember to keep your feeders clean and once the temps wRm up change out that sugar water every two to three days so that it doesn’t mold.
