I've had my hen and chicks almost a year. No Chicks. Grows in full sun. I live in Florida. Why?

Maybe the hen needs to become established before chicks appear?  My mom used to have them and there were chicks all over the place.

@Paride The ones that I have planted in the landscaping don't do much.

The ones that I planted in containers really multiply & crowd.

Mine grow well in poor rocky soil and love to be nestled in rocks.  I am in zone 5.  LM

Not sure where you have them planted, but I just ordered them. I live in West Central Florida Zone 9a and I haven't received them yet, but in doing some online care research, it seems to me that they wouldn't care for the rainy season in Florida as they appear to like it very dry.  Of course, our sandy soil drys out quickly, but I would think they would do better in containers or somewhere that doesn't get or stay too wet.  I believe they prefer a succulent or poor sandy soil with half-strength occasional light fertilization.

Their ideal temperature range is 65-75 degrees and the attached article says they will go dormant if the temperature is higher or lower, so maybe that's the problem.  I may put mine inside in a sunny window when it gets really hot.

@LolaMontez   I have had hens 'n chicks for a while now.  I would advise not ever bringing them inside.  They do not do well inside at all.  Also, I have mine in pots but they do better in the ground.

Going dormant doesn't hurt them, but if brought inside they may die.
