Lived in Montana in 1954, dad had a job there, my brother was born there.  I dont remember seeing any swans, may have but I was only 9 yrs old.

I have seen trumpeter swans at a zool.  They are beautiful.

Thanks for the photo.

I saw some on a pond as we traveled through rural Montana on vacation some years ago.

Haven't seen swans in the U.S. but in England, where they were under the Queen's protection, but of course now the King's.

So beautiful. Love your photo@newname0.

Beautiful photo.

The trumpeter swan is native to Michigan and is on our state's threatened species list.  Unfortunately, the invasive mute swan is threatening the breeding success of this native bird.

We had many Mute Swans here in my county that were featured in our tourism handouts, but the state came and killed them. They shot all 55 of them and claimed they had to do so as they were an invasive species. The Division of Fish and Wildlife authorized the slaughter. Locals weren't happy about it.
