I would like about 12 inches or a little taller. I am working on changing over my back yard. I already have a lot of perennials but they die down in the winter (peonies, lilies, some ferns, daisies etc) and that leaves a lot of space for weeds. Our winters have become much warmer so the weeds are prolific. I am looking to fill in with evergreen plants. I have several eunomyous, boxwood, summer daphne and of course lots of rhododendrons. Looking for different textures.

Here's an example of Carex morrowii cultivars (that is the term I used to google)
Here in zone 7, they do not go dormant or die down to the ground. They remain green. Some gardeners, cut them down to the ground, but I leave them untouched year round. They make nice mounds.
Here is mine: It is to the right of the Japanese painted fern and the cultivar is 'Evergold'

Thanks for the info and the link. Beautiful garden. Reminds me I need to put Sluggo around my hostas again!

@JustJazzmom, wow, I love your fence. How is it for maintenance? LM

Here is corkscrew grass...zones 4-9. It says it is good in boggy areas as well as almost anywhere else. I have it near my rock wall and under a birch tree. It does well in both places. LM

Thank you!! It is a khaki colored PVC fence--not white color. Easy to clean -- when I get that 'round tuit'!
There is moss on the northern side and some water with bleach removes it well.
The pickets are closer together on 3 sides of our yard and on the side facing the street they are spaced slightly wider.
