@jlkz, I don't know what region you live in, but it was not a good year for hydrangeas. I have only three small flowers on mine. We had a late frost last April, and even though I quickly covered the plant for days, most of the flower buds burned. My azaleas didn't flower as well as they should have either. This year I'm going to apply an anti-desiccant to all my blooming plants and blooming evergreens. I've heard forecasts for a bad winter here, and I don't want to lose any plants. By the way, I didn't purchase the plant from QVC, so I think point of purchase may be irrelevant in this case especially if you were impacted by late frosts earlier this year. I purchased my plant from a reputable online vendor based in Connecticut, and I'm a long-time repeat customer of that vendor.

This AM noticed the couple tips on the very fall hydrangea had color: this late in the season they are going to have a few more small blooms. Mother Nature can be contrary sometimes.
