Re: HYDRANGEAS ON THE AZURES ISLANDS

And I can't even get one bush to bloom or thrive once they bloom!  We had the simple white ones when I was growing up and did nothing to them and they were gorgeous.  My SO planted a blue one 2 years ago and still no flowers.  I researched online and there are so manly kinds and some conflicting info on caring for them.  I have no green thumb and have a reputation for killing plants so I guess I shouldn't expect much.

@Pook   Do you prune them?  If pruned at the wrong time, there will be no blooms the following year.  I hardly prune mine, only to shape, and that is immediately after the blooms die, being careful not to cut off the buds for next years blooms which are just below the current blooms.

@mousiegirl , what a feast for the eyes❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️!!!  Thanks for posting.  Takes my breath away.

@Pook , here is my advice for you.  I am betting you have Niko Blue.  I have at least 24 hydrangeas on my property. Get rid of the the blue hydrangea.  Go out and buy yourself an Endless Summer hydrangea.  There are many kinds ...Twist n Shout, Bloomstruck, etc.  They are much easier to look after and don’t require much shaping.  The blooms are gorgeous.

I think you should try just one.  I had a Niki Blue that I babied for years and it begrudgingly set out a few blooms every year.  I started adding other hydrangeas with much greater success.  Good luck!  LM

@mousiegirl  These pictures are astounding!  Where are the Azures? I tried googling them and keep coming up with the Azores. Are they one in the same?
