I have a wooden trellis in my backyard - gives me privacy from my next door neighbor.
Some of the greenery in the trellis has died - so now there are some bare spots on the trellis.
What could I do?? I have no idea. I want to leave the trellis standing.
It just needs some filling in. It looks too bare now.

This is from my thread "a great display for a small yard".
Maybe this will give you an idea.

Metal flowers would fill the bare spots, lots of choices are available.

Just the other day I was watching you tube and someone showed how to use artificial flowers to fill in. She cut a pool noodle on one side in the length you need, then wrap the cut side onto the wood. Then you can stick the flowers into the tube, or you can make a cut in the noodle and push the stem into that cut. You stick enough flowers onto the noodle to cover it.

Go to a nursery and look for a climbing vine-like plant.
I have a Coral Honeysuckle that actually hides a gas meter quite nicely.

If you have the patience -- Clematis come in all colors and are beautiful- Different varieties can fill out at different times. I have one that is dark purple- it's been transplanted 4 times- when we've moved- I always take it with us! It will drape all over a trellis and fill out.

Depending on where you live and what the climate is, wisteria is a lovely, climbing plant. It is important to plant the one that is NOT considered invasive however. It has lovely foliage and deep purple blooms that give off a delightful fragrance. We started it on a trellis and it is slowly creeping across our back fence - we hoped it would! HTH
