Gardens slowly waking up

[ Edited ]

We have had such a wet cold Spring.  When I look at the same areas this time a year ago, I see a big difference.  We need some heat and sunshine to get things going.

It was also a bad year for more delicate plants .  Brunnera may have succumbed to the freeze thaw cycles.  Japanese painted ferns fate undetermined.

Heather is always a Spring delight.

I planted a new Kousa Dogwood and Bloomerang lilac which should add some color.

In the photo below, the angel has now been uprighted and her hair planted. We are still getting risk of frost warnings from forecasters😲!!!

Primula leafed our waiting for sunshine, bottom right.

@Lilysmom.  Seems like you're very much behind schedule this year.  We usually have glorious color  by now

Re: Gardens slowly waking up

The Annapolis Valley in Nova Scotia is farm country, known for fertile land, warm temps, a microclimate in our Province.  Big Apple farm country and, more recently, grapes.  They put on an Apple blossom festival every year.  This year there are no blossoms for the festival.  The farmers say we are at least three weeks behind.

some trees are leafed out in the city but just beginning here and tomorrow is a June 1.

Can’t remember the last time we had two days of sun in a row.  More like a day of sun, five days of cloud and rain.  We need some heat to get things going.  LM

@Lilysmom@Desertdi.  This is my favorite vignette, which I keep handy in case the urge to pick up my paints or perhaps pastels strikes me.

@Kachina624 , that stump is an old favorite of mine as well.  The thyme took a major hit this winter.  It is not in bloom I your photo but is so pretty when it is.  LM

@Lilysmom.  I love the composition, movement, texture,  and color in that photo.  You take a great picture.  You can tell you know about design elements.
