It's actually never been "survival of the fittest."

It's about survival in a particular niche, and best "suitability" rather than "fittest" (often misinterpreted to mean strongest).

Which means unless that mythical planet was absolutely identical in all of its surface, there couldn't be just one plant.

 

Cooperation among species has a lot to do with survival as well, such as indicated here by the bees and their symbiosis with the flowers.
