It seems like every plant I have ordered from Roberta's has died, the latest is my Asclepias, half of them have already died and summer has just begun. Has anyone else had this problem ?

Well @Grnthumb ..I guess I am lucky then.

Everything I ordered from Roberta's....they cancelled on me.

First In Process, then backorder, then process, then cancelled.

Sorry to hear you had issues....if it is still within the 30 days...QVC can give you a full credit.

If not, then you have to go through Roberta's warranty.

@Grnthumb Yes, I gave up on Roberta's years ago.  Mine were DOA, and then a year later they sent "replacement" plants that were nothing like what I had ordered and more like weeds.  Went straight in the trash and I will never order from them again.

BTW, if you're interested in the yellow Ascelpias Hello Yellow, Bluestone Perennials has them and they're on end of season clearance.

I'm assuming that those who order plants from TV have no nurseries near them???  Otherwise this is another item I don't understand why one would order from TV and not go to a local source.

Getting to be a common complaint here.

Yes, I've had the same experience and stopped shopping after the first order died.  Replacement died, too.

That could be the case, or their local nurseries don't carry the items or the varieties being offered on TV.  I know I have to resort to mail order sources for much of what I want often because not that many nurseries carry much for shade.  Or, it's the same old same old.  I prefer to get my hostas from a more reliable source to try and guard against HVX which most big box stores and many nurseries either don't know about or don't care as long as they can sell the plant.  I also like to collect varieties that aren't always available locally.  Just because my local nursery doesn't sell it doesn't mean it won't grow here. You just have to find the better online sources.

I'm currently waiting on an order from Bluestone Perennial's end of season sale.  I've bought many things from them in the past. We had a rare weather phenomenon in December last year and I'm having to re-do some of my stuff.  And it's not because I bought stuff that's not good for my area.  One of my losses is a large camellia that was here when we bought the house over 20 yeaers ago.  A lot of people are pulling up established shrubs that are now dead due to that weather phenomenon.

Also, the different varieties of Ascelepias that OP mentioned are not readily available at most nurseries.  I have one that carries the one variety I mentioned, but a friend who saw mine and had to have it found out yesterday that they were sold out.

@kaydee50  I've gone to our local nursery's but if you don't get there by Mothers Day then the varieties are picked over.

I do not have luck with most mail order plants.  QVC and Roberta's has always refunded me.  I have been going to a hole in the wall, off the beaten track for plants and advice for two years and having better results.   A neighbor recommended them.   🪴🪻🌱

Also, very reasonable.

I ordered it as well and the plants are not doing well at all, I do not expect them to live. I thought it might be worth taking a chance with it because I never see this in my local garden centers and I know this is a tough plant to transplant and get established but once you have it growing it will be tough as iron. I may go over to Bluestone....thanks for the tip!

I have always ordered from Bluestone Perennials.  They have stuff that I can't get at local nursuries.  They are having end of season sale right now.
