Good morning friends.  DH is off salmon fishing this week so Inhave booked myself an appointment at a nursery to buy Dogwood Summer Gold.  Does anyone have this?  Here is a photo below.  I was originally looking for Wolf Eyes but the nurseryman recommended Summer Gold.  He has both.  What do you think?  LM

I bought a dogwood tree for my yard about five years ago.  I don’t know the variety but I know it’s neither of the ones you are considering.  I looked up the Wolf Eyes and that is a pretty color too so it sounds like a hard choice.  Up until this year my dogwood tree would sporadically bloom in the spring (one year it didn’t bloom at all and other years only half the tree would bloom) but finally this past spring the whole tree was covered in blooms.  I’m not sure if it just had to get to a certain size or it the weather affected it, or something else.  Anyway, whichever you choose enjoy!

Yikes!  That's not my mother's dogwood tree.  Very unusual.  Does it just bloom in the spring?

I do not think I've ever seen (or noticed) this type of Dogwood.  Very pretty and I'm sure on your property @Lilysmom1 (yeah) it will be beautiful.

Interesting Kousa dogwood. The petals look unique. That photo is from the Monrovia site. I saw on google a photo of one with burgundy tinged leaves -- maybe fall color?

@Desertdi , Newfoundland salmon!  DH has been Fly fishing salmon since he was a boy.  The annual pilgrimage.  Up at 4:30 every morning to be on the river at first light.  The fishing fever before the trip is legend, breakfast meetings, gear review, waterproofing hip wafers.  On it goes.  Could be worse right?  LM

@JustJazzmom @lulu1 @Kachina624 @BlueFinch @Mom2Dogs @Desertdi  so I made it to the nursery.  After discussion with the nurseryman, I bought the Dogwood Summer Fun.  This nursery has some beautiful shrubs and trees.

I also have a Japanese Maple to add to the garden.

Apologies for the background clutter in the garage.  These will stay here until the wind dies down.  LM
