Re: Do you have house plants

I have several christmas/ thanksgiving/ easter cacti---have had one for 50 years now myself and that one was from my MIL's mother so  it's at  least 100+ years old. One is starting to bloom now---which is weird----maybe a late Easter bloomer----

Re: Do you have house plants

The house I lived in before the one I live in now, had 14 inch window sills and my windows were really tall.

I brought in my geraniums to over winter on my window sills on the south side.  They grew like crazy and I took cuttings and started new plants.

All of my windows had geraniums growing all the way up to the tops of the windows and flowered all year around.  People would stop and ask if they were real.

I had to clean up fallen leaves and petals every day.

My house now has no window sills at all and I have a coating on my window glass to block the sun.

I struggle with growing plants inside that need sunlight.  I had a few plants that didn't need sunlight and they grew okay, but when we traveled, I had to get my daughter to come over to water them.

Right now, I have no more inside plants.  I destroyed the last of them this past winter.

I took three plants outside during the summer.  When I brought them in last fall, I put them on my kitchen table. I was going to prepare them for indoors the next day by pruning and cleaning them.

When I got up the next morning, there was a ton of soil everywhere....on my table and floor.

There was some kind of critter who took up living in my pots..I think a vole.  There was a deep hole in the biggest pot in the soil.

I quickly at lightening speed moved all three plants outdoors and they did not survive the cold.

I like indoor plants, but I am not planning on getting any more.

Re: Do you have house plants

Yes I have a lot of houseplants and herbs , we live in an old house with porches across the front , back and sides of the house
they’ve been moved outside on our porch's for several weeks now ( we are in the south )
I had just commented on another thread about a Thanksgiving cactus that’s budded to bloom now
