Has anyone planted mums and tulips in containers?  They are such seasonal flowers that I hate to take up space in my beds w/them.  I just bought some.

Sure - Harry & David and Jackson (?) have been selling potted tulips, etc., through their catalog for decades.  Years ago I ordered and sent tulips to Florida for a relative who can't grow tulips there.  (they need a frost)  Don't know where you live so just added the frost part!

I did for the first time this year. They did fine. I ordered some more for my containers on the patio.

Not tulips, but I always plant my fall mums in containers.  They flourish and last through the season beautifully!  Good luck.

Lowe's is selling mums in matching pots.  They do not need to be replanted unless you buy the small ones for that purpose.

@Patriot3  I grow most plants in pots, including vegetables and fruit, but tulips will multiply every year, so use a large pot.  Eventually, you will have to dig them up and transplant due to multiplication.

Heres an old trick.  to mimic "a frost", place in the freezer compartment for 5 to 6 hrs. Remove the pot of blubs,   treat as if  6 months had gone by.   This little trick will all so work with parsley seeds.  They like to "winter over" too.

Not sure but I think you meant 5 - 6 weeks.

This year I planted mums that I purchased from Lowe's in containers and they are doing great.  I ordered tulips for next year and will plant in containers.  I plant most of my plants in fabric container bags that way I can move then around when needed.
