So what does it feel like, @Nataliesgramma

Is it stiff or is it soft?

Will you wait to see what sort of flowers it has?

I saw 2 more little sprigs in the general area of this one and I am sure it is the cammomile that you said @GingerPeach ....

My neighbor has a small herb garden too and I think she may have planted this in hers....LOL

It also looks like Love in a Mist or Nigella, which is an annual that gets a pretty blue, mauve, or white flower. It reseeds at my parents' house easily and pops up many places, but can be pulled if you don't want it there.

You may be right, @peridotj

Check this out, @Nataliesgramma

Here's a shot of a Love-in-a-Mist (Nigella) seedling.  You may want to leave it (or even put it in a pot) in case you have something pretty:

If that was growing wild here in Northern California, it would be cosmos or fennel. Smell or taste the leaf. If it is a licorice smell or taste, it is probably fennel.
