Buddleia Butterfly Bushes

William,

The planting guide I have for the set of 4 butterfly bushes I bought 2 yrs ago says prun in March, but is doesn't say how or where to trim them back? I have had them all in pots so their langly(few stems) that just spread out not filling in fully like the picture shown in the plant guide, or the 3 pc collection that was on air a little bit ago. Where do I trim back and how far down?
