The bluebirds are bringing their babies to the feeders.  Not sure if they nested in my bird house or elsewhere.

No migrating grosbeaks this year though. :-(

I think my bird feeders are a better predictor of rain than the weaetherman is though only short-term, LOL.  They always get busy before a good rain.

@Icegoddess Funny you should mention grosbeaks. They came to my house. We have bird feeders everywhere and noticed last week a new bird had arrived. He had a bright red chest so easy to google. Our first rose breasted grosbeak. We have never seen them before. I have since identified 2 females. They have been very active unlike the male.

Today,we saw a new bluebird that needs identifying. We couldn't see its head and breast so will need more sightings. We also have baby cardinals. Lots of chickadees too. Our first grosbeaks. We are in TX.

@Icegoddess I agree! The birds predict the weather better than the weather stations all year around.

@Estates I had my first grosbeaks that I know of after the tornado outbreak of April 2011, late April.  We were without power for a week and spent a lot of time outside on the deck.  Even then, I don't have a good view of the feeders.  I don't have a good vantage point to just sit and watch them.  I mostly catch them as I'm walking by a window or as we drive up in the driveway to the turn-around spot. Or, when I'm out working in the yard. I've seen them every year since until this year.  They're quite shy, so it's been difficult for me to get a pictue.

The robins sometimes follow me around when I'm working in the yard.  When I'm weeding, the earthworms often come to the surface and they seem to know that.

I saw one male last week, a western type.  Pretty rare to see at my house, don't think they like my evergreen forest.  Pretty.

@Icegoddess When I shifted to working from home,we set up my desk in the dinette area.It faces our side yard with magnolia and hackberry trees.Lots of shrubs too.The birds really like the spot so I get a show everyday at the feeders and bird bath.It also faces the bayou so I see the water birds from afar. Hawks too.

We are on our 3rd batch of bluebird babies...they always nest in one of 3 houses i have set up here.

Right now, a batch ( about 4or 5) just hatched a few days ago...mom and dad are flying in and out, feeding.

I love having them here!
