@JustJazzmom, thanks for the heads up on the Kousa.  That must be why my Satomi is so happy, part shade, part sun.

 

i am doing steps today.  I will show you when I'm done.  Kinds of messy out there now but that goes with the territory of having a dozen in your yard.  LM

@Allegheny, yes I bet it is glacial.  Another monster probably gouged out our lake.  

 

Here is is a photo of the climbing hydrangea against the rock.  I know I must be patient!
