I was at Aldi's one day this summer & they had small aloe vera plants so I bought one. I thought I would plant it in the backyard and it would take a long time to grow. I would have aloe when I needed it. LOL!!! Looks like it grows pretty fast. I put it in a larger pot & brought it in when it got cold here. I found out it gets too cold here to plant outside. I still want to keep it so not sure what to do. I lived in Tx so I know these things get huge. How can I keep it alive when I have to bring it in when it gets cold?

Don't water to much... I have one plant for years and it's huge... I check the soil now and then and give it a drink - let it dry out between waterings - you will see when it needs it. This plant grows like a weed... Have fun...from a Jersey girl.

I don't water much. Have not watered since before we brought it in the house. DH wanted to water it the other day & I said does not look like it needs any. Only way I know to keep it alive is keep putting parts of it in pots that I am able to move indoors in the winter. I will plant some in the yard & see what happens to it next winter after it has a while to get established.

Don't leave an aloe outside if it's going to be anywhere in the 30's. They are very sensitive to cold.

It gets way colder then that here. Usually stays above 0 but have had some -0 temps before. Has not been that cold this winter. We have had some single digit lows. It snows here some but not like it used to. We now get more ice or sleet or ice & snow. We still have some snow/ice on the front & backyard from the storm that came through Christmas weekend.
