I own one Cottage Farm Flamiingo Willow Patio Tree and two Rose of Sharon Hibiscus TREES. All of them are planted in large 1/2 whiskey barrells. Over time, the level of potting soil has gone down a few inches and I wrote Cottage Farms on how to add new soil to these tree containers without hurting the tree bark trunk. I was worried about adding a few inches of dirt around the trunk that has never been under dirt.
Cottage Farms replied and just said that I will have to try to raise the trees prior to adding more potting soil if you cannot transplant them. These are very large containers and very heavy. Can anyone give me some ideas on how to do this? All I can think of is turing them on thier side and trying to pull them out, hoping alot of soil stays around the roots. Then adding a few inches to the bottom of the container and then lifting the tree back into the container.... I really can not think of a better way to take thses trees out of the containers?
Help please -- I do not want to hurt the trees.. The trees are like 5 feet tall. the Hibiscus trees are 4 years old and the willow is in its second year.
Thanks
