A different plant this year...

[ Edited ]

I don't 'garden', but I have a few plants that I love.

This year I bought this one, because it was cheap, and here is what I got.  Yellow Perennial Daisy?Plant 1.jpg Have you ever seen a plant grow "smaller plants" off the main stem?

Here it is today!

Do you know what it is?  I found a large one on the net and it just said 'wild daisy.'  Hope someone can tell me what I really have.  It's blooming now, but one died back and I cut it off and it now has 4 babies.

When will they bloom?

I set out 4 "bare roots" about 3" tall in May.

Anybody?

I don't know @Zhills, but it looks very happy.  Maybe @Jazzmom would know.  She's a Master Gardner.

I think it's a coreopsis, too. They're perennials and have the bright yellow flowers like the ones in your picture.

Thanks, but it's not a coreopsis.  This plant have large firm stems.  Main stem 1/2".

This is the one I found on the net!  See how the main stem curves and little 'plants' grow from it.

Another guess?

@Zhills  I think it's a coreopsis based on the lance shaped leaves. They are a member of the daisy family which is quite large. Daisy leaves aren't lance shaped but look more like chrysanthemum leaves.

Thanks @JustJazzmom

When I googled "coreopsis" and found a flower like mine, the leaves were not like mine.  They are pretty and I am enjoying them and that is the bottom like!

Thanks for taking the time.  A coreopsis it is!

Re: A different plant this year...

Found out my weird plant is a Swamp Sunflower.  See how the plant grows another "plant" at the leaf nodes.  Unusual to me!

Enjoying the bright yellow blooms!
