Have taken most of my potten plants into the garage for the winter, but left the pansies out until LAST NIGHT! They are so pretty and survive the cold weather well each year, but it dipped around 11* and I didn't want to loose them after several years.

We haven't even had any snow or rain in December. This is the driest in my memory. I'd prefer a long gentle soaking rain. Grateful my lawn is still green and lovely, but I'm really worried about a few shrubs and plants.

We've had a really wet year here in the Philadelphia area and last week it was warm(er) and wet so the break between Christmas and New Year wasn't really pleasant to do anything outside which was kind of a bummer.

Of course today it is snowing AND tonight we are supposed to get really cold weather.  I've been putting my plants undercover to protect them. I need to remember to put the protector on the fig tree I bought and over the pansies.

I bought two terrariums to keep my ivy in the house safe from the cat and the cat safe from the plant since it is toxic! I'll put them back onto the enclosed porch once the temperatures rise again. I hope that the Christmas cactus plants do OK on the enclosed porch since I don't have a way to bring them in safely.

I really enjoy all the seasons although having to shovel snow make winter my least favorite.

Despite there being snow and ice on the ground, my earliest daffodils have broken the ground and are up a couple of inches. Spring is coming!

@gardenman    That groundhog doesn't know what he's talking about!! I also have a few tips of green poking through. Makes me so happy.

Think we're now about six weeks until spring! Days are much longer, which makes a huge difference. We've not had snow this year. Need some moisture desperately! Anxious for gentle spring rains to soak into our ground.
