I can't wait for Soring to arrive!  I miss being outside working in the yard.  We had about 10 cm of snow yesterday, the soft fluffy kind.  I am loving the longer days.  So far, winter has been kind in Nova Scotia.  We haven't really had many storms until this month in Nova Scotia.  The lake opened up a couple of weeks ago which is most unusual.

This is what the back yard looks like this morning.  S

@Nataliesgramma , I planted a lot of bulbs last year.  Can't wait to see crocus and daffodils break ground!  S

Not me. It's already pretty much spring here now with temps in the 70's. Spring for us in Arizona just means it's that much closer to months and months of 100 degree plus temps. We don't even come out of our houses unless we have to from June to October.

@Meowingkitty , I can't even imagine what that kind of heat is like!  I completely understand why you don't long for that.  S

Since you ladies seem to be experienced gardeners, maybe can shed some light for me here?

I'm in a condo, deck planting only...last year someone gave me a huge spring arrangement in a big clay pot that had a variety of tulips, ****** willows, hyacinth and pansies. I took it indoors during our first snow storm...I didn't want the pot to expand and crack. Our weather stayed bitter cold and snowy so I kept it indoors.

Soon, and because it's warm indoors, apparently....the hyacinth came up and bloomed! They've passed now, greenery still left behind. A few of the pansies' greenery that never died from fall is still there too.

So...does this mean once I put this outdoor for spring there will be no blooming in spring? I realize I've thrown off the plant somehow...

Anyway...any experienced gardeners who can advise, or suggest if I need to do anything come spring...plant something else in it etc...please advise. TIA!

I can't wait either!  This has been the longest month!  I love Spring --- it's my favorite month.  Everything comes back to life --- including me!!!!

Most spring bulbs must go through a winter freeze to bloom.  I doubt your bulbs will bloom again unless you put them outside to freeze first.

Pansies are annuals in most areas and will not survive the cold winter.  They must be planted evey spring.

I suppose you could still have time to set your pot outside. If the bulbs come up and you want pansies in the pot as well, you will need to plant some new ones.

I’m in South Texas and it appears I lost all my plants, fruit trees and shrubs. Sad but it will be fun recreating my garden.

Today, I want to clean the house and put up Spring/Easter

@amyb , I have no experience bringing bulbs inside.  Mine are all in the garden.  See @Carmie's post.
