My MIL used to grow blackberries in her garden and would make blackberry pies and jams every year....fond memories!

@cheriere  They are beautiful! I miss mine from my old house, I had a huge patch too. I always enjoyed sharing them with my boss and co-workers and even the birds and wildlife that vivisted me.

Cheriere I love blackberries your bushes are beautiful we have a lot of wild blackberries on our property but they didn’t do good this year it was just to hot and dry
We have several blueberry “ trees “ and grapes vines I need to get a few blackberry bushes
I bought two containers of blackberries this week at Publix and made a blackberry cobbler , it was soooo good

rockygems I don’t know if you wanted my recipe for cobbler or Cheriere but I will tell you how I made the cobbler this week it’s sooo easy
I don’t really follow a set recipe this is from memories of watching my grandma cook , she never went by a recipes or measured , neither do I , I never measure anything except when making cakes
This will work with strawberries , blueberries, raspberries also


Blackberry cobbler
I used two containers of blackberrys I’d bought at the store prob a cup each
1/2 to 3/4 cup sugar ( not sure how sweet your berries are )
2 tbsp butter
1 1/2 cup water
I placed everything in a saucepan and cooked until the berries was soft and the mixture was slightly thickened
Then I placed the mixture in a ovenproof dish sprayed with cooking spray , set aside
In a bowl I mixed
1 stick butter melted
3/4 cup self rising flour
3/4 cup sugar
1 cup cup milk
Mix well
Carefully Pour over the berries ( it’s ok for some of the berries to rise to the top as you pour the crust on they’ll settle back to the bottom as they bake , bake at 375 about 30-35 mins until done
Serve with vanilla ice cream

I love your sharing about your garden too.  I may have to ask for some blueberry pointers in the future.
We put out 4 blueberry bushes for the first time ever this spring.  They're still really small, but one had two tiny blueberries on it lol.

We picked blackberries all day.  It's been so hot here, they've really got ripe soon this year.  I'll have to make my cobbler very early in the morning since it's so hot.😃❤️
