the Queen addresses Parliament

The Queen wears the George IV diadem as she sits next to the Imperial State Crown which is placed on a cushion today

the Queen sits next to the Imperial State Crown while wearing the George IV diadem which is lighter and easier for her to wear.  it was carried in with pomp and circumstance.

.The Imperial State Crown is carried up the royal staircase to be put in place for the State Opening of Parliament today

she was accompanied by Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall

The Imperial State Crown is carried on a cushion at the State Opening of Parliament in Westminster this morning

 

 

The crown was carried into the Houses of Parliament today as a symbol of the Queen's authority, as it also was back in 2017

 

 

The Imperial State Crown is 12.4 in tall and weighs 2.3 pounds It has four fleurs-de-lis and four crosses pattée, supporting two arches topped by a monde and cross pattée. Its purple velvet cap is trimmed with ermine. The frame is made of gold, silver and platinum, and decorated with 2,868 diamonds, 273 pearls, 17 sapphires, 11 emeralds, and 5 rubies.
