@suzyQ3 I Just Ordered A Rails Hunter Plaid Shirt

[ Edited ]

I've been checking on and off looking for a good deal on one, on a site with free shipping and free returns. I just found this one, I think it's a great deal. At Nordstrom . Was $148, now $62.11! I would have preferred more vivid colors, but I think it's pretty.

I am a medium but I ordered a large. They say it runs small, I have looked at the size chart on the Rails site and it does run small. I shouldn't be buying, I justified it by the fact that my b day is coming up and it's my gift to myself. Being on this forum has made me (haha, made me) buy a mock neck,a clutch, and now this. All recently. Very bad...

This one is available in sm, med, lge for anyone interested.

@Greeneyedlady21, you done well. I happen to love the soft, muted prints. You can wear them all year, whereas the darker ones seem more appropriate in fall/winter. I do like darker, bolder ones for winter.

I wear these shirts as both shirts and shirt jackets. When I wear them as shirts, especially in warmer weather, I usually try to do one of those fancy cuff turn-ups. These shirts are lightweight so that unless is it's horribly hot and humid, they do well in summer.

I will say that I do not agree with Nordstrom's sizing suggestion. I think that these run large. But you'll see what you think. They are definitely not supposed to tight-fitting. The look is relaxed. If you need to size, no big deal.

Also remember that Amazon has a large choice. There's one page on which there must more than 20 plaids, some of which are very discounted.

@Greeneyedlady21, I really like the blouse.  I find it difficult to get a good fitting one because I have larger upper arms but I wear a medium, and QVC is about the only place that gives the upper arm circumference measurement.   Since you have a birthday coming up, take the entire year to celebrate.  Look at all the presents you can have!

Re: @suzyQ3 I Just Ordered A Rails Hunter Plaid Shirt

@suzyQ3 Oh no, I should have asked you about sizing first. I have a very small bust but I'm pear shaped. If anything it will probably be too big in the bust. That's the problem I always have-fits in the bust but then too tight in the midsection or hips. I've only been a consistent medium when I was ten pounds lighter than I am now.

@SXMGirl I have larger upper arms too. I've put on some weight so sadly they're even larger than before .

@Greeneyedlady21 @suzyQ3

After the subject came up I saw a beautiful blue one on the Nordstrom site on sale but it was still $104!!

What makes this brand special? Is it the fabric?

Re: @suzyQ3 I Just Ordered A Rails Hunter Plaid Shirt

@Andreatoo @suzyQ3 is the expert, she says they are soft and comfy. I was looking for a really nice quality classic shirt so I want to try a Rails. It's a splurge for me but I've also spent much more on way too many cute tops that don't fit me well and aren't timeless or classic. When I purge in the fall I need to get rid of lots of tops.

Is this the blue one you mentioned?

@Andreatoo, back when I first posted about the Rails shirts, specifically their Hunter plaids, I sheepishly confided that I first saw them on the show "Mom," which my husband and I love. I have a sort of girl crush on Anna Faris. :-)

I noticed her plaid shirts and looked them up. She wears several brands but quite a  few are Rails Hunter ones. So I started checking them out. I'd not been a shirt person in the past but loved the look of them.

They are 100 percent rayon -- super comfortable and easy to launder (cold, gentle cycle, hang dry, perfect and no wrinkles). NO DRYER. If it's one of their cloud washes, it's cotton/polyester.

Rails itself is an expensive brand. I do think that the shirts are excellent quality and the array of colors are amazing, but I'm sure that I'm also paying for the name.

I know that they are pricey. Certainly if someone is in the market for a relaxed plaid shirt, there are many brands at many price points.

@Greeneyedlady21, in the event that you keep or exchange the shirt, remember how I launder them.(see above). The tag says to hand wash. It's not necessary.

Re: @suzyQ3 I Just Ordered A Rails Hunter Plaid Shirt

@suzyQ3 I received the shirt today. On me definitely doesn't run big at all. It's snug in the upper arms, not uncomfortably so but it is. I like the way it fits everywhere else. And the fabric is very nice. Stretch always helps with the upper arm issue and obviously these shirts don't have stretch. I know you have posted that you're very slim, I think this shirt would work best on a very slim woman with very slim upper arms.

It's very wrinkly out of the package, don't know how much it wrinkles with normal wear. If it does that would drive me crazy.

I'm glad I tried one, but for that price I want to be thrilled with it and I'm not. Easy free return.

Re: @suzyQ3 I Just Ordered A Rails Hunter Plaid Shirt

@Greeneyedlady21  that lady that sells the Belle line of clothing has a cute looking plaid shirt. It is listed in the new arrivals. It might not be what you are looking for, but I think it's worth taking a look at

I don't own any of her gaments ,but ladies seem to feel they fit well ,and are good quality
