@alohakz  How about soaking in hydrogen peroxide w/water?  The HP may lift some of the odor.  I am guessing so maybe Google it.

White vinegar rinse.....took out the musty shore smell from linens for me.

Deifnitely white vinegar rinse.  I pour white vinegar in a bowl and set in a room to get the paint smell out of a room.

 It is a great deodorizer.

@Bhvbum  Personally, I would not want my clothes smelling from vinegar.  I have read that it is used.  There are other detergents that the OP may have luck with.  I Googled it because I was curious.

Use ammonia (along with detergent) in your wash cycle.   Follow directions on the bottle.

I also use vinegar in every wash to

sanitize and soften and strangely, the clothes never retain a vinegar smell at all. After soaking in it and some baking soda you could wash it again with detergent in usual wash and then air out in the sun.

If you don’t want to use vinegar try Borax.  It’s a powder that comes in a cardboard box. I find it in the laundry aisle. I use it for dog blankets, sour towels, and any dirty laundry that has sat too long.
