men's clothing: alternative to short sleeve button down

Good morning!

Can anyone suggest an alternative to a short sleeve button down shirt for casual dinners out in warm weather..? I don't care for that look and am seeking other options for my partner.

TIA!!

Agree with a nice Polo shirt. That’s all my DH wears to casual dinners.

What kind of shirts does your partner like to wear?

Are you referring to short sleeved dress shirts? That is all DH wore when he worked. The company he worked for had a very strict dress code, but he did like long sleeves.

When I lose the TV controller, it's always in some remote destination.

This is what I call a very "vanilla" golf shirt, accepted anywhere T-shirts are not, because it has a collar.    I don't know your partner's age or style but you can find these almost everywhere in all colors, even with patterns, sometimes with a contrasting placket.   It also looks good under a sports coat, if required.    I live in the south, it & khakis are the summer "uniform".

I like this one.

Thanks all for the replies. He does not really care what he wears; is 51, 6'3" and well built. I guess I was wondering if there is anything without a collar that would be considered an acceptable substitute but agree golf/polo shirts would do...

Polo shirts.  They are step up from tees but still casual and they have a collar which makes them a little dressier.

For a current look, I like a (no collar) crew neck. The fabric often has a silky hand and is much dressier than a t shirt.
