No, ALL girls did not go downtown like this - my Mom would have never allowed that.
Adelle, we did but I can't find the kind of curly head cover we wore, it was like a bandana but tied in the back.. not a lunchroom hair net either, LOL ...

Well, I doubt we were 16 at the same time or lived in the same town.

No, absolutely not. I don't even own any flannel pj's but if I did I wouldn't wear them out of the house. I don't even wear sweatpants to the store. I have seen some people out in what looks like pajama pants or lounging pants and I think it's tacky. Even when I am sick with a cold or flu and need to make a run to the drugstore I try to look presentable. I'm shocked at how so many people no longer take pride in their appearance. Once upon a time people actually dressed nice to go out to dinner or the movies, now many look like they should be home on their sofa with a bucket of popcorn.

Appears to be with someone who could have had a chat with her. If she was in a wheelchair I wouldn't be making these comments, but she appears capable. Maybe just got released from hospital and cupboards were bare? Could she be filming a 'What Would You Do' TV episode? Is there a positive side we can find? Maybe she doesn't care what anyone thinks and most of us spend a lifetime trying to get to that place. It's a stretch, but I tried.
I don't know, could be that's just what she wanted to wear & didn't care.. at least it's holidayish looking.. maybe she saw Santa..
I like your version, peachy. We're trying our best to make excuses for her...

RE: Walmart Betty Boop
Or she could be a teacher who is required to dress up on ""pajama day"" and had to make a pit stop on the way home from work. This is a new trend to promote school spirit...

Well, I might - if the house caught on fire while I was sleeping and I didn't have time to change.
And Colliegirls, I am 80. I never went out in curlers. Neither did my Mother. Neither did my Grandmother. They all went to the beauty parlor every week. No curlers in our family ever. If anything, they always went out well dressed - sometimes overdressed for their planned activity. That's how it was in MY South. Where did you grow up????

That's a good one, phx. She had to wear her pjs to class and by the end of the day she didn't give a flying flip about anything. I've been in education for almost 3 decades, mostly higher ed, but I get the 'new ideas' that surface now and again. I think I'd wear a sign on the back of my pj shirt that stated -- I am a teacher for the ... school district. How do I look?
